Stacked Coins Pot-holders

I feel like I've been SO busy lately I've had no time for crafting! How I am busy when I don't work is a mystery to me! I guess it has to do with Ben directing Cabaret and me watching the kiddos all the time. It's our weekend with them, so while he's been doing tech and dress rehearsals (show opens this Thursday!) I've been trying to continually occupy a 2 year old boy and 8 year old girl - all the while "taking it easy" for the twins in my belly and wishing I could follow the doctor's orders and find time for a few hours of rest every day!

Instead, when I have a little time on my hands I feel like I need to utilize it! I can't see spending the only couple hours I have available for *me* laying in bed staring at the backs of my eyelids! So today, I made a couple of new pot-holders. First shot at a "stacked coin" quilted look. (And motivation to look for WAY TOO LONG to find the camera right where I'd already looked... only buried further than I must have checked.)

A Project In Progress

Okay, so in progress, but also on hold - I need to find a backing fabric and decide if I want a border before the binding (which is probably a yes...) but my FIRST quilt, so far:

It's coming along, but until I can get some backing fabric and batting, I am stuck, so I have started a new project and am helping my fiance's [almost] 8 year old daughter make a quilt for Voisie (one of the babies on the way)!

Engaged!

Silly me, I created this blog right before going to Spokane for the weekend, so already I've been MIA for days! I really wanted a chance to go to some fabric shops that would be... Well, not Joann's. Of course, everyone assumed I wanted the "biggest" fabric shop and I got taken to Joann's. I live in a town that has one, albeit a little smaller, and wanted to see if there were any independent fabric stores in a big city like Spokane, but didn't get the chance. Now I'm back in my small town and the only places to buy are Wal-Mart and Joann's. C'est la vie. I ended up spending money at the Joann's in Spokane just to get the same fabric at the same price that I could have gotten back home. I'm still asking myself why I didn't just wait until I got back to get it, if that was the case... Especially because I don't have a sales tax at home and they do in Washington. Oi. I guess I felt under pressure to get something since I made a big deal about going to get fabric while we were out of state!

In other news, on Monday my boyfriend proposed to me, so he is now my fiancee. How exciting! I am very happy and I love my ring. I am still trying to get used to it, though! I don't do much for wearing jewelry so it's been interesting having a ring on that I don't take off before bed or anything! It was super unexpected and I cried.

Here's the link to a video of the proposal on my Youtube! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4Eqo5xFDyY

My New Blog!

So, I have been playing with crafts (mostly sewing as of late) and I wanted somewhere that I could exclusively talk about the things I am doing in my "off" time. I am currently pregnant with twins and due in August, so I've found that I spend a lot more time at home by myself than I used to. This leaves tons of open time to play with new projects or possibly revisit the old!

The idea here, I think, is to talk about and probably post pictures of my projects (maybe it'll be a muse for someone else, down the road?) among other things in my everyday life. Who knows how well this'll work out? Can't know until you've tried, I suppose!
